Burca Elevator & Metal Works Inc. is seeking a Florida-licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to join the Team. This senior leadership role combines professional engineering responsibilities with hands-on operational management.
The successful candidate will bring technical judgment, manufacturing experience, and the ability to lead teams, improve productivity, and complete projects safely and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering, Licensing and Permitting:
- Review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and fabrication documents for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
- Manage applicable company license applications, registrations, renewals, and project permits.
- Sign and certify permit applications and technical submissions.
- Respond to plan-review comments and track approvals, inspections, and permit closeout.
- Maintain organized engineering, licensing, and permitting records.
Manufacturing and Production Leadership:
- Direct daily manufacturing, fabrication, and production operations, including metalworking, welding, carpentry, elevator cab manufacturing, and door manufacturing.
- Develop production schedules based on deadlines, material availability, staffing, and installation requirements.
- Coordinate personnel, equipment, tools, and materials across departments.
- Monitor productivity, labor efficiency, quality, and on-time completion.
- Resolve production bottlenecks and implement improvements to reduce waste, rework, and delays.
Installation Management:
- Lead field installation operations in collaboration with Project Managers.
- Confirm that drawings, permits, materials, equipment, and site requirements are ready before crews are dispatched.
- Provide technical guidance and resolve field installation issues.
- Monitor installation quality, safety, productivity, and completion schedules.
Team Leadership, Quality and Safety:
- Supervise, coach, and develop department personnel and team leaders.
- Maintain quality-control procedures and address recurring defects.
- Promote safe work practices and support compliance with applicable safety requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited program or an educational background meeting Florida PE licensure requirement.
- Active Florida Professional Engineer license in good standing.
- Relevant experience in manufacturing, fabrication, production, construction, or industrial operations.
- Previous supervisory or management experience overseeing production or field operations.
- Strong understanding of engineering and fabrication drawings, specifications, materials, tolerances, and mechanical assemblies.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication, welding, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to manage multiple departments, projects, and deadlines.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in office, manufacturing, and project-site environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing both manufacturing departments and installation crews.
- Experience with architectural metal, sheet metal, stainless steel, aluminum, and custom fabrication.
- Proficiency with CAD and relevant engineering software.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
